Link Contest Good Marketing?
I read a great post today on on getting links via a contest.
Here is a quote:
A good contest can bring a lot of visitors to your site / blog to enter and after they do enter, there is a reasonable shot that people will look at some of the rest of your blog. Many of these will end up being repeat visitors and if you design the contest right, it’ll give the winners anything from a cash prize to links (or at least bragging rights and a cool award graphic) and it will also give you inbound links.
I think this is a great marketing technique and will surely place it in my list of test to do here at Bu.bulicio.us

I have seen many blogs running contests and have thought about trying it out myself. What I’m always concern is how to spread the word around and create a ‘hype’ about the contest. Perhaps I should just give it a try. It’s definitely a great way to gain links to the blog.
Plus in these days with the competition to gain loyal readers you have to try everything.
At the end of the day all we want is for readers to visit us and to give us a chance to earn there loyalty by providing interesting content.
I’m currently running a contest to win a pair of sunglasses. The problem is that the majority of people entering are doing so from free blogs created just for entering contests.
I have more than one pair of these so am thinking of contacting a blog with lots of subscribers to host the contest. Also will offer more ways to enter such as stumble, technorati favs etc…
I also need to create some sort of banner for the contest so that people can find it easier.
Contest are idiotic and a waste of time.
